5 Years Of Famicom

Megaran Poster flat

PHOENIX, AZ – Arguably the world’s most foreknown video game influenced musician, Mega Ran is returning to the road with producer K-Murdock to celebrate 5 years since the release of “Forever Famicom.”

The album was praised by critics for it’s honesty and tasteful nostalgic themes, garnering favorable reviews from outlets like 1-Up Magazine, The Word Is Bond, Potholes In My Blog and more, and re-released in Japan and “Forever 8-Bit” by River City Records. The success of the albums spawned 3 special “DLC” EP’s in subsequent years, containing new songs and instrumentals.

The “Forever Famicom 5th Anniversary Tour” will hit the northeastern US and midwest and will include special opening sets by brentalfloss and Sammus (w/DNilsz), check each venue for specific lineups.

About this project (from K-Murdock)

Well party people, here we are again! This time myself and Random (bka Mega Ran) are back and need your help as we are trying to take our “Bits & Rhymes” live show to Europe as we were recently invited to perform at the famed London Anime Con which goes down THIS coming July 30th and 31st! The caveat was we had to raise the money to get over to Europe ourselves which is why we are back on Kickstarter 😉

Ironically, both Ran and I have passports that have never been stamped ;( and feel like this would be a great way to expand the Forever Famicom experience we started last year stateside as there’s many fans abroad who don’t get to see us live… namely in the UK! Money we raise will go toward plane tickets, lodging and definitely memory cards for our digital cameras AND depending how much we raise in the end possibly bringing along extended music fam like Lost Perception, producer of the Final Fantasy 7 tribute project Black Materia, and Random’s longtime dj/producer DN3 to help make this experience more epic!

mega ran london

On top of performing at the Con, we would make the most of our European excursion by videotaping the whole trip to create a DVD (including any other performances we manage to do while in the UK, sightseeing, etc) which will then be given to those who back us at a certain level. We have even decided to do more fan requested commission tracks a la the last campaign.

Other perks for supporting this campaign include advance copies of BOTH our forthcoming projects: Ran’s TeacherRapperHero Pt. 2 mixtape (mixed by DN3) my new EP- The Ronin, which both won’t be out till summer! PLUS Ran and i have even decided to give away the actual microphone and sampler we used to record/create ALL of the songs for Forever Famicom to a pair of lucky backers!

We even got packages that will bring the Bits and Rhymes experience straight to you with us performing LIVE at your house/apartment/basement/backyard/office… and maybe we can even get in a few matches on Halo, Modern Warfare or Marvel vs. Capcom… pick your poison 😉

AND we even have a “ULTIMATE FAN” package for 1 lucky backer where you can travel with us to London to be a part of this experience too!!! that means you’ll be in the aforementioned DVD we are making!!!

No matter what level u get in on, any support is appreciated and in the end helps us get closer to you all- the fans!

VERY IMPORTANT to note that if we don’t raise enough money to meet the stated goal ($2500), then any and all money WILL NOT be withdrawn from your account!

So it’s London or bust yall!

Playstation: The Official Magazine profiles Random!

…. But I can’t get your PSN working, sorry.

So when Lost and I were interviewed about Playstation: The Official Magazine like 2 months ago, I had no idea when or if it would make the magazine. But, it’s there…and a full page!

Big ups to @jmob4, who not only told me about it, but was nice enough to scan it for me..and you.

Beats going to your local Barnes and Noble and ripping the page out. And no, I’ve never done that to get cheat codes.

Wow. If you’re one of the cats still snoozing on Black Materia, go here and order the album with a SIGNED limited edition poster (less than 40 remain) for a special price:

Listen hard, then come back to let me know how you feel.

More great news! My Bits and Rhymes partner K-Murdock put together a music video for “TYFL” with clips from our shows at SXSW, PAX and C2E2. Peep.

also, I dropped a new single, like yesterday. In case you slept, get some Kia Music.

ALSO: last night we did a great interview on RadioSupa.com, covering videogames, life, music..and I even spit some new raps. Check that out:

And tune in to RadioSupa.com every Tues for the goodness.

Is that enough for one days update? Whew.

Shows announced! Phoenix, Baltimore, Philly, DC, San Diego, Orlando, New Orleans and more!! I’ll be in your town soon, stay locked here:
