PHOENIX, AZ – Capcom-Licensed rapper and teacher RANDOM, aka MEGA RAN is preparing to change the game once again, with the help of Florida’s own WILLIE EVANS, JR, with the announcement of THE VS. TOUR. It is the first interactive tour combining musical performances with video gaming tournaments.

The VS. (Versus/Verses) Tour, will hit 14 venues, starting in Tempe, AZ on February 25 and ending on March 13 in Austin, TX, at the Nerdcore Showcase at the South By Southwest (SXSW) Music Festival. Every venue will be equipped with an Xbox 360 or Playstation 3 for players anxious to get their hands on the new game, as well as previous iterations of Street Fighter and Tekken for the classic gamers.

“I’m looking forward to getting back on the road as always, and adding video games to the mix is a crushing combo. I just hope the fans go easy on me,” Ran says.

Random and Willie Evans Jr will travel from town to town doing damage to not only microphones, but to controllers as well, on the new video game Street Fighter X Tekken, hitting stores March 6, 2012. Random is a Street Fighter fan, and Willie is a Tekken maniac, so expect some wild times on the road. The two are working on an exclusive tour-only EP, which will be available for purchase on the tour’s kickoff date.

“I’m extremely excited to hit the road with Mega Ran and show the people what we’re working on! I’m also extremely excited to punch fans in the face…on the game of course. “Willie Evans Jr says.

Joining them will be some of the biggest nerdy acts around: Adam Warrock, Kirby Krackle The OneUps and more.

The tour comes hot off the heels of an amazing 2011 year for both artists, as Random hit 44 dates with nerdcore superstar mc chris, and is returning from a week-long tour of Japan. Willie Evans Jr has seen his new release “Introducin’” receive praise from AOL, Fat Beats, Okayplayer and many more tastemakers. Willie himself was listed as one of the new faces of hip-hop in December’s issue of Spin Magazine.

The video for his new single of the same name (http://youtu.be/RKCKR87J_bw) features cameos by hip-hop heroes Jean Grae and Pharoahe Monch. Willie also has an upcoming video for his second single “Nerd English” to be released this week.

2011 was a defining year for me. I had undoubtedly the greatest year of my professional life, and I have you guys to thank for that!

Let’s run it down, shall we?

JANUARY.

January started off in full blast with 2 projects; First being SPY vs SPY Volume 2 with AZ producer and emcee SPAN PHLY.

Next was the album that changed it all…

BLACK MATERIA.

Based on my favorite RPG of all time, the album featured Lost Perception on the beats, and some of my favorite artists lending guest vocals. That led to some really cool things happening, including..

Playstation: The Official Magazine.

And Game Informer, among other great press outlets.

MARCH was festival month, as we hit SXSW in Austin, C2E2 in Chicago, and PAX East in Boston.

At this time, Japan was rocked by not one, but 2 natural disasters. We tried to do our part with this song, and donated over $200 to Japan!

Around this time, I had an offer to play overseas for the first time, so we organized a trip to the UK, with your help!

MAY was a big month, that’s when I made “The Decision” and resigned from teaching.

Right after that, I dropped “TeacherRapperHero2″

and we finished up the Mirandom video for “Wednesday,”

then headed overseas in JUNE.

On our return, and in JULY, we finished up Forever Famicom DLC 2 and got ready for Nerdapalooza, where the response was amazing.

and then in AUGUST got the call of a lifetime… from mc chris.

We were asked to join the EPIC RACE WARS TOUR in the Fall.

During the tour, we released DLC2:

and when the tour ended in late OCTOBER, it was time to release the long-awaited Mega Ran 10 album in NOVEMBER:

AND as if that wasn’t enough, there was still DECEMBER!

First was a trip to JAPAN!

and then, Mirandom time!

How can we possibly top this next year????

Phoenix, AZ – After recently wrapping up a massive 44-city tour with mc chris and MC Lars,Hip Hop artist and educator Random returns to the past for a final time for another Mega Ran project, this one based on the new Capcom game Mega Man 10.

The album, Mega Ran 10, samples and interpolates tunes from the soundtrack of the top selling game and transforms them into all new Hip-Hop, rock and dance tunes. Ran is quick to point out that this is not a direct sequel to the previous titles.

“I planned on putting out a song every few months, and soon I had an album’s worth of material on my hands. I’ve been asked by fans to finish the album and release it, so finally, I agreed.”

After accomplishing the impossible with an official license and co-sign from Capcom USA, Random’s last few Mega Man based albums, “Mega Ran” (2007) and “Mega Ran 9” (2009) have landed Ran in major publications from Nintendo Power to Playstation: The Official Magazine.

The album will feature production from Random, DN3, K-Murdock and newcomer Derrick Canton. Guest artists include Open Mike Eagle, Beefy, Phill Harmonix and more.

The sad news? This is Random’s final Mega Man tribute album. “It’s been a great run,” Ran says. “I’d never want to keep doing something to the point that it becomes expected of me. I’ll always love the Blue Bomber, and I think my catalog proves it.” He and executive producer K-Murdock will be taking their talents to the Land of the Rising Sun for a week of touring December 7 to 13.
